The 5 daily exercises your body will thank you for
In this week’s podcast episodes, a former Olympian tells us how to get fitter & stronger in 2025, plus we test the wrinkle-busting claims of the new high-tech skincare gadgets
Not one but two episodes of the podcast hit the airwaves this week: we are back with our regular Sunday interview and midweek How to Win at Midlife episodes, and this is what we learned…
On Sunday, we were joined by coach, personal trainer, motivational speaker and former Olympian Michelle Griffith Robinson, who represented Great Britain in the triple jump at the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996. Michelle was just as we expected, full of joy, motivation and the best practical advice on how we can get fitter, healthier, happier and stronger over the coming months. We talked about how to set realistic fitness goals, affirmations, visualisation and other techniques for staying motivated, how to fuel your body and your mind to make the most of your workouts and overcoming setbacks. Surprisingly, despite being fit and healthy, Michelle was diagnosed as pre-diabetic a few years ago, due to family history, and she talks about dealing with this blow and how she keeps the disease at bay. She also shared a daily routine of five exercises that you can try now, whether you’re a beginner or intermediate (more sets and reps for the latter). Here’s a demo video she kindly made for us…
In our Wednesday How to Win at Midlife episode, Trish tested out three high-tech skincare gadgets - an LED face mask, a hand held laser and an electrical muscle stimulator - to find out if they deliver results and are worth investing in because they’re not cheap. (We also recommended DIY facial massage and facial yoga videos that you can do for absolutely free, that will lift, tone and sculpt your face if you stick at them - see links below).
Trish spoke to Victoria Woodhall, who is one of the UK’s leading beauty journalists, she is Editorial Director of Get The Gloss and she’s also a yoga teacher too (check out her online yoga platform - Trinny Woodall is a fan). Victoria’s main piece of advice was: to get results you have to follow the manufacturer's instructions to the letter, so if you don’t think you can commit to the time and regularity of using the gadget, it won’t be worth spending the money. The laser and the LED work by stimulating the dermis deep down to speed up cell turnover, boosting elasticity and collagen renewal.
Trish, being the rule follower that she is, did stick to the instructions and was really thrilled with the results from the Currentbody LED Light Therapy Face Mask Series 2 in particular. Find out what she thought of all the gadgets on the podcast, click on the links below to discover more about the products and watch some rather funny clips of the show on our YouTube.
And finally - what a relief! Poor Margo, Trish’s pussycat, is back to full health after a very unpleasant problem with her rear end, which we did of course discuss in probably far too much detail on the show!!

I bought a Peep Club red light eye wand before Christmas which I am loving. I have been looking at the LED face mask from Bon Charge but I am going to check out your suggestions. For now, it’s face tapping, brushing and Gua Sha which I have done since I first heard Katie Brindle on your pod way back. Happy New Year ladies. It’s good to have you back in our ears.
By the way Trish, happy to be an online Guinea Pig if you need participants to practise your Pilates teaching!
Welcome back to our podcast feeds. Can't wait to check all these recommendations out! I've been meaning to try face yoga for ages...
