You are invited to: Second Act Career Adventures: Make The Shift, Change Your Life
It's FREE! So why not join us and a whole host of fantastic women to network, find inspiration and get your career change or second-act adventures off the ground!
Trish: How are you feeling about your career? Do you need to reignite your passion for what you do, are you interested in turning a side hustle into a business, want to retrain in something new or just chuck it all in and escape on your dream adventure? We hear from so many women in our Postcards from Midlife community who have reached a point in life where they need change, but are unsure of what it could be or how to make it happen. Lorraine and I have both been through this ourselves, coming to terms with the end of our careers as magazine editors then finding a surprising new purpose and fulfilment with our podcast, newsletters, retreats and live events. If you’d told us both five years ago that this is what we would be doing today, I’m not sure either of us would have believed it!
For the past few years we’ve been working with a great organisation called Careers Can Change, in partnership with Phoenix Insights, which is a resource for anyone needing ideas, inspiration and practical support for changing up their career (it does what it says on the tin!). And together we are hosting a FREE live, networking careers event which, if any of the above sounds like you, you really must come (let me say it again, it’s FREE!!). Here are the details:
What: Second Act Career Adventures: Make The Shift, Change Your life
When: Tuesday 15th October, 7pm Leicester Square Theatre, London
The speakers: First up, joining Lorraine and I on stage is author, arts producer and adventure activist Jessica Hepburn who will be talking about making big decisions, taking risks and reinvention. Jessica, whose retreats and live talks are always a sell out, gave up her career in the arts due to a life crisis and has since become the first woman in the world to achieve ‘The Sea, Street, Summit Challenge’ – swim the English Channel, run a road marathon and summit Mount Everest.
After a pause for networking, we’ll be getting down to the business of how to actually make your career dreams happen with Karen Blackett OBE, a business leader with 25 years of experience in the marketing communications industry, who recently stepped down as chair of the UK’s largest media agency to pursue her second act. Joining Karen is Sarah Ellis, co-founder of Amazing If, a company with a mission to make careers better for everyone. Together with her business partner Helen Tupper, Sarah is the author of two Sunday Times bestselling books The Squiggly Career and You Coach You and their TED talk, The best career isn’t always a straight line, has been watched by almost two million people.
There will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions too.
It’s going a be great night and we really hope that you can join us as we’d love to meet you! And why not bring a friend?!
Tickets are available from 1st October, but you can register now and be the first to get hold of them, just click HERE.
