In our many years as glossy magazine editors, we’ve commissioned countless features about sex (remember Position of the Fortnight in more! magazine - that was Trish…) and it’s a topic that continues to raise questions and curiosity among our midlife audience. Which makes sense of course, because who is the same person, or has the same desires as their 20-something self? For this week’s podcast we invited a guest who has spent her career leading the charge on female sexual empowerment with a ground-breaking business that makes women’s sexual desires, fantasies and curiosities a reality. Emma Sayle is the 45-year-old founder of Killing Kittens, an exclusive membership club offering online and in-real-life sexual adventures. We met the mum of three (and pal of Kate Middleton) just after she’d launched the first KK Cruise to find out what she’s learned from her members about sexuality now. Here’s a few of her tips, but do listen to the full episode for more, and also our round up of the best travel destinations right now (scroll further down for useful links to all of these too)...

We’re in the age of the sexually adventurous midlife woman

‘Since I launched Killing Kittens I’ve seen how sexuality and sexual behaviour has changed, especially over the past 10 years. The way the world has opened up to gender and sexuality, means that people fall in love with people and because it’s now so accepted, it opens up mindsets. So many women join Killing Kittens when they come out of marriages, they’ve been cheated on, their husband’s left them or they’re just not happy. Most women I know are naturally bi-curious. We all sit on a sexuality scale of between 1 and 7 and women are very much 3, 4, or 5. I check out other women faster than my husband does. We’re naturally more touchy feely than men. I don’t believe people are in one place on the sexual spectrum - it’s not set in stone, it’s constantly evolving. If you want to start exploring, the Killing Kittens digital platform is a great place to start. There are helpful sex education features by experts, there are chat rooms, including women only ones, couples, over 40s… You’re anonymous but you can get a feel for people, get a vibe of what it is and the dynamics. If you want to take it further and attend a party, it’s a completely safe place to wander around on your own and talk to people, we have DJs and performers and it can just be a great party. You don’t need to go upstairs or the side areas - half of guests who come to the parties don’t take their clothes off.’

Here’s how to reclaim your sexuality
